A new outlook in Barcaldine

11

The Outlook at the Globe is the next stage of the development of a tourism hub in the central west Queensland town of Barcaldine.

The project was funded through Federal Government grant schemes with ICM selected for the project through an open tender process.

During the tender assessment period it became clear that there was a gap between the project funding and the capital cost of the project. In order for the project to progress, value management proposed that significant design elements being removed.

ICM worked closely with the Barcaldine Regional Council (the client) and the architects ( Brian Hooper Architect in association with m3architecture) to assume additional risk with respect to the latent ground conditions. This approach from ICM meant that all design elements of the project could be delivered as intended by the architect.

The facility is now open to the public and has added to the already impressive list of local “must see” attractions on the Queensland outback tourist trail.
