Project Type: Heritage / Refurbishment
Value: $720K
Project Manager: Cushman & Wakefield
Architect: NBRS Architecture

Project Overview

The Ayr Post Office built in 1936 and is a Commonwealth Heritage building of significant historic value. It has some landmark qualities due to its street corner presentation, parapeted breakdown to Queen Street, side porches and highly visible fleche/roof lantern. The aesthetic and landmark qualities also derive from the building’s proximity to the prominent war memorial and clock lantern located on the traffic roundabout in front of the building, and through being a part of a valued local civic prescient. The refurbishment project was undertaken over 9 weeks and included the refurbishment of the existing façade with new heritage finishes and accessories.

A key project feature included the modification of the internal amenities, installation of new sanitary fixtures and fittings and the fabrication and installation of new box sash external joinery windows.
